CSAGSI President's Message

 

Hello friends,

 

Greetings to each one of our members near and far. Because of distance we do miss seeing many of you at our meetings, but we did see some the out-of-towners attending the very successful CSAGSI Genealogy Workshop in March 2007. We hope each of you is progressing in your family genealogy search and enjoying the many aspects of CSAGSI membership.

 

     There are so many dedicated individuals in our society who give great volunteer effort toward helping all of us advance our knowledge about our immigrant ancestors. I want to highly thank all these volunteers back to the founding of the society in 1996 who have given hours of labor for the society. Your service will never be forgotten. Several of you have already been honored with the Anton J. Cermak Genealogy Builder Award. I hope each of you will join me, whenever you get an opportunity, to express your thanks to the numerous leaders of this society. More important, we need you to join in serving the society at some position. We need you to PLEASE volunteer. Start in some small way, perhaps on a committee, and when you see an area you could provide leadership, indicate your interest. We particularly need people with computer skills - especially for editor positions. Step forward and announce your availability. We are looking for a new editor for Koreny as I write this. Can you help?  

     Join in the large variety of Czech & Slovak activities continually being presented in Chicagoland and elsewhere. It is important to be proud of your heritage. We look forward to seeing you soon. Our quarterly membership meetings for 2008 are Jan. 26, May 17, August 16 and October 18. A mini-conference is also under discussion for March 29. Please also note the dates the acclaimed CSAGSI Research Library is open elsewhere in this Newsletter.
