President’s Message

Since my last opportunity to talk with you society activities have continued for 2006-2007. The CSAGSI Christmas Party is approaching on

December 4. This will end a wonderful year for society activities. Hope that you attended this event and enjoyed the Svaty Mikulas program.

Next we hope to see you in LaGrange for the January 27th meeting. Marge Stueckemann, program chair, has organized the recommended program “Pictures From the Old Country” by Susan Marsincus. Then come next Spring, March 24th, a special, all day, CSAGSI Genealogy Workshop is planned. This is your opportunity to hear several celebrated members provide guidance on developing your ancestor’s story. This workshop will also include a good Czech meal. The full conference schedule is available on the CSAGSI web page (www.csagsi.org) and appears elsewhere in this Newsletter.

Speaking of the Newsletter, aren’t you impressed with the new design of our Newsletter? We heartily thank Louise Rokos for her marvelous efforts in producing this thoroughly informative and interesting quarterly.

For next year, 2007, I’ve noted that the terms of various elected officers and directors of the society will be ending. We could have up to six or seven positions open if an individual chooses  not to run for his or her position again. These positions are very important for the smooth functioning of the society. My term as president, for example, is expiring. Shall I become the past-president (still with several constitutional duties) or run for re-election as president?  WELL, the main story for you is that

there are OPPORTUNITIES to assume various leadership positions of the society. This opportunity will be here soon. Starting in January in LaGrange (or sooner), please speak with Bill Hosna (email: Hosna@worldnet.att.net), chairperson of the nomination committee, or to any other officer about your interest. We hope to personally ask some of you but it is better if you seek us out. Those who have been holding a position will help new people learn their duties. Come join in the fun.

As the current yearly calendar is coming to an end I want to extend to each of you the very best for the coming holidays.  VESELE VANOCE!  STASTNY NOVY ROK!
