CSAGSI President's Message

Bill Hosna, President CSAGSI

September 2004

Hello members,

I have several things to report on this time.
Most importantly, we have had to change our meeting place. Our next general meeting will be held on October 30, in the Downers Grove, IL Library building. It is located at 1050 Curtiss Street, one block south of the Burlington railroad station. This may or may not be the only meeting at this location, as public parking is not very abundant. If you live near the Burlington railroad, get a schedule from your local train station and take the train to and from the meeting. If you must drive, there are several parking lots available. Metered parking is available; but even on Saturday you must feed the meter. Park carefully. Do not get a parking ticket.
Our Officers and Board Members are working hard to find a permanent location that has all the fine facilities we enjoyed at the Riverside Township Hall location.
Next, our own Library in the T. G. Masaryk building in Cicero has experienced some growing pains. Due to too many books and not enough space, we now have use of the entire top floor. Thanks to our Recording Secretary, Chris Visconti, we have recently received new shelving and volunteers will be moving many of our books into the larger meeting room. Paul Nemecek, our librarian, is planning an open house for the second Saturday of November. Keep that day open from 10 AM to 2 PM, so you can enjoy our new facilities.
Next, our Annual Christmas Party at the Bohemian Crystal Restaurant, in Westmont, IL is on St. Nicolas Day, December 6th this year and is already attracting quite a few reservations. It will be on Monday evening, and as the restaurant is usually closed on Mondays, we will have use of the entire restaurant. Great food, entertainment, door prizes, and maybe Svaty Mikulas will pay us a visit that evening, so you had better start behaving NOW.
We are working hard to hold a Workshop/Conference in the spring. Details will be forthcoming as they are confirmed.
Next June you will be electing several new officers and Board members to run our Society. My two terms are up and it is time for someone new to take our organization into the future. If you wish to be considered for a position, please notify an officer or board member, or mail it in to our secretary. All members, in good standing, are eligible to hold an office in our Society.
Please read your future Newsletters and the flyers included within them very carefully for details about our next meeting. We hope to have it in January, as usual, but we are not yet sure, where it will be held.
