Welcome to the web page of The Czech & Slovak American Genealogy Society of Illinois. We are an exciting genealogy group for those interested in Central/Eastern European and Chicago area genealogy. CSAGSI was formed because people like yourself who have roots in Bohemia, Moravia, Slovakia, Silesia, or Ruthenia felt a need to develop, preserve and share genealogical, historical, and cultural knowledge of our ancestors.

If you live in or have ancestors who have passed through, the Chicago area, you certainly want to be a member of this group.

Members Take Note:

If you haven't already sent-in your Member Surname Database sheets, please do so ASAP. We are hoping to develop a comprehensive member database.

NOTE: The Member Surname Database is not the same as the members page. Information for the latter needs to be emailed to the webmaster separately. Due to some privacy concerns, we will not upload your surname information without your specific request.

What's New:

• The Koreny Topical Index is now online. Review an index of all Koreny articles.
• The "The Mystery Photo Page" is a place where members can post and/or help identify photos.
• The "Members Only Page" now has a sampling of grave listings from the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
• We've added a section describing our humble beginnings: The History of CSAGSI
• You may now read the President's Message online. CSAGSI president Paul Nemecek discusses the state of our society.

• We've added a new feature to our links page: member favorites.
• The CSAGSI Store is now open for business. Czech us out.
• The CSAGSI Library Holdings page contains an inventory of our holdings and the policies regarding them.
• The Cemetery and Church Resources Page is sure to be a popular spot. Currently under construction, this page will direct visitors on how to obtain church and cemetery records from institutions popular in the early part of this century.
• Of course, check the various links, members page, meetings page, genealogical tools, and recipe page. They're frequently updated.
