This CSAGSI conference will be an all-day event held at the William Tell Inn in Countryside, Illinois on Saturday, March 27th, 1999 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  

The William Tell/Holiday Inn is located one mile north of the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) on Joliet Road in Countryside.

About the Speakers  

Karen Hobbs
Karen Hobbs is a researcher in Austrian Empire Military History documenting the life of an Austrian Empire soldier and the impact of military service and military action on peasant populations in the Czech lands. She also has done translation projects from German to English, including a history of place names in Mies (Stribro) county, Bohemia.  

Daniel Schlyter
Daniel Schlyter is an accredited Genealogist (AG), in Czech, Slovak, and Polish research. He graduated in 1977 from Brigham Young University in International Relations. He has lectured many times at national conferences and has published several genealogical books and instructional aids. His most noted book is the Handbook of Czechoslovak Genealogical Research.  

Joan Mohr
Joan Mohr is a doctoral Candidate in History at the University of Pittsburgh. Her specialty is U.S. Immigration History with an emphasis on Czechs and Slovaks. She is an author of the Odyssey of the Czecho-Slovak Legion in Siberia, 1917-20, and of the immigration patterns of the Plzen/Rokycany families who settled in Western Pennsylvania from 1870 to 1914.  

Steve Potach
Steve Potach is an enthusiast of Czech/Slovak history and culture and has been researching his family history for nearly 25 years. He received a B.S. in History from the University of Minnesota and has been a speaker on historical topics at many workshops and conferences as well as the author of various historical articles. He was the 1976 winner of the Ida B. Davis Ethnic Heritage award.  

Dominic Pacyga
Dominic Pacyga received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1981. He has co-authored two books concerning Chicago’s neighborhoods. He has lectured widely on topics ranging from urban development to immigration and on Pilsen Park - Chicago’s Czechs in Historical Perspective. He is currently working on a study of Chicago and the nation at the end of the 1950s.

Hotel Information:
The William Tell/Holiday Inn and the Hampton Inn are located right next to each other in Countryside, IL at the junctions of LaGrange and Joliet Roads, one mile north of I-55. Exit LaGrange Road (Route 45) from I-55 (Stevenson Expressway) and go 1 mile north to Joliet Road. Turn left on Joliet Road. William Tell/Holiday Inn is on the North Side of the street. Please enter on the East side of the building. The William Tell/Holiday Inn is where our conference will be taking place.  

Rooms are being held at the Hampton Inn, in Countryside, IL (next door to the west of William Tell/Holiday Inn) for conference attendees. A special room rate of $78.00 + tax (single or double) has been arranged. To make room reservations please call the Hampton Inn in Countryside, IL at (708) 354-5200 and ask for the special code CSA, when you book the room. A limited amount of rooms at the Hampton Inn have been reserved so please reserve early.
